This past weekend, indie rock trio, little image, put on a compelling opening performance for The Academy Is… on their 20th anniversary tour for the album Almost Here.
A Little Bit About little image
Originating from Dallas, Texas, band members Jack Simmons (vocals, guitar), Troy Bruner (drums) and Brandon Walters (guitar, synth) have been making music as little image since they were in high school circa 2017. During this time, they released their first album, Musings, beginning their growth in the music industry. Fast forward a few years, they released their second and biggest album to date, Self Titled, with some of their most listened to tracks including “OUT OF MY MIND", which appeared as a featured ad on the streaming service, Hulu, and holds over 12 million listens on Spotify.

Over the past year or so, Simmons, Bruner and Walters have been releasing singles with specific imagery and a cohesive style theme, which seems to be hinting toward the release of yet another album. The first song put out in this series was “THE PRESSURE”, introducing fans to the image of a rabbit and a spiral-face being known as Mr.Cynical, that is printed on their outfits during live performances. Shortly after, they released “RUN FOR FOREVER” and “NOVOCAINE”, focusing on themes of chasing what once was and feelings of being trapped and unable to escape a cycle of your own thoughts. The most recent song, “KILL THE GHOST”, continues the storyline with lyrics implying that we are in our own way and in order to get where we want to be, we need to break free of our own thoughts and fears.
At the Show
The boys seemed thrilled to be back in Boston, as Simmons mentioned they love the city and that they had been exploring the area and drinking lots of Guinesses. Later, he even put a Boston Red Sox camp on for a song to draw more excitement from the crowd.
Many people there, especially at the barricade were familiar with little image’s music and could be seen singing along to songs off of Self Titled and to their newer music. We got to hear a variety of their songs, including an unreleased track that we hope comes out on streaming platforms soon!

Bruner gave the crowd all he had with an insane drum performance during “RUN FOR FOREVER”. Walters also showed off much enthusiasm as he rocked out on the guitar throughout the set. The room felt their energy and strong emotions during the song “Bottles” off of their album Musings as Simmons shouted the lyrics “I loved you, did you ever love me?”. Their final song, “KILL THE GHOST”, ended with a bang as Simmons and Walters threw their guitars in the air. Once the guitars fell to the stage floor, the three boys embraced and gave a final bow.
Later they posted a video of Walters in the green room with a tool kit fixing the guitars. Guess you could say they went pretty hard!
If you haven’t already, go check out their new music HERE.
